Once, I was invited to dinner in a Michelin starred restaurant in Paris. We were ten: the Chairman of a big industrial group, his executives, a journalist and me (the only lady). Before the official dinner started, people stood in the salon, chatting with each other. A waiter served champagne. He served me first, then the guests around. The Chairman was the last served because the farthest from me. Nobody seemed to be bothered or even paid attention to this.
It would not have happened this way in China, where the person with the highest hierarchical level is always the first served. What if the boss is a lady? She will be served first.
